WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Winston-Salem State University Athletics has announced a schedule change for Saturday's football game against Johnson C. Smith University. Due to inclement weather expected in the area, the game has been moved from its originally scheduled 6 p.m. kickoff to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Bowman Gray Stadium.

The schedule change was made in an effort to avoid the expected inclement weather and provide the safest possible environment for student-athletes, coaches, staff, officials, fans and visiting teams.

UPDATED GAME DAY SCHEDULE
Game: Winston-Salem State vs. Johnson C. Smith
Date: Saturday, Sept. 12
Tailgating Begins: 9 a.m.
Bowman Gray Stadium Gates Open: 9:30 a.m.
Kickoff: 11 a.m.
Location: Bowman Gray Stadium

Winston-Salem State encourages all fans, students, alumni, faculty, staff and supporters to adjust their plans accordingly and take note of the updated kickoff time.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early, with tailgating beginning at 9 a.m. and stadium gates opening at 9:30 a.m.

Saturday's contest marks the Rams' CIAA opener and the first home conference game of the 2026 season. Winston-Salem State enters the matchup looking to make a strong start to conference play against the defending CIAA champions.
