The Short Story
The Winston-Salem State University men's and women's cross-country teams competed at the Rams Atlantic Region Preview on Friday at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex. The men's race opened the meet before the women's race followed later in the morning.

The Rams' women's team finished sixth with 162 points, while the men's team placed 11th with 330 points.

The Finish Line
Senior Rainn Sheppard led the women's squad, finishing 12th overall with a personal-best time of 23:41.8. Senior Ann Badawi followed in 20th with a season-best time of 24:14.4. Sophomore Ava Millner finished 43rd in 25:36.8, while senior Elicia Bryant placed 50th in 26:18.5. Junior Kayla Nobles rounded out the Rams' top five, finishing 74th in 29:17.2.

On the men's side, freshman Zion Green paced WSSU with an 82nd-place finish in 33:22.9. Freshman Kaden Hines finished 83rd in 34:18.1, followed by sophomore Jyyheir Morrison in 88th at 35:16.7. Freshmen Khalil Battle and Jordan Gardner finished 89th and 90th, respectively, with times of 36:56.2 and 37:53.9.

Up Next
The Rams will return to action Friday, Oct. 2, when Winston-Salem State competes in the HBCU Cross Country Challenge, hosted by Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
