Biography

2019: Darren continued his career with a solid performance in 2019. He played in eight of the team's 10 games and he finished the season with eight receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown. His best game of the season came against Johnson C. Smith when he had four receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown. 

2018: Started in eight of the Rams’ nine games at the tight end position...He finished the season with 10 receptions for 88 yards and two touchdowns...He also had a tackle.

2017: Played in five games for the Rams...He finished the season with a reception for five yards and a touchdown.

Personal: Joined the Rams in the fall of 2017...He came to Winston-Salem State after competing at East Carolina University...He is a graduate of Grady High School where he was rated a three-star recruit...He was named the Cam Newton Most Valuable Player during his career. He also earned the Golden Helmet Award. He is an Interdisciplinary Studies major and he is the son of Ann Whatley and Darius Dowdell.
