Much of what it takes to become a successful student-athlete at Winston-Salem State University begins with work in the weight room. To fulfill this commitment, Winston-Salem State University student-athletes have access to a pair of well-equipped weight room facilities that are also conveniently located near athletic training facilities to ensure top-quality healthcare.

The primary weight room facility for Winston-Salem State University student-athletes is housed in the Bowman Gray Field House. Built-in 2007, WSSU student-athletes make use of a 4,000 square foot weight room that houses six Hammer Strength power stations, six Olympic deadlift stations, a full complement of dumbbells from 10-125 pounds, leg press, and both leg and hamstring curl machines.

The weight room located in Whitaker Gymnasium is primarily an educational facility where weight training and physical education classes are held. The 3,800 square foot room features six power racks with benches and a complete set of dumbbells.
