Whitaker Gymnasium

Whitaker Gymnasium is one of the most historic venues in collegiate athletics and it is home to Rams volleyball. Built just after World War II, the gymnasium has played host to some of the best student-athletes and coaches in the history of Rams athletics.

The gymnasium was the previous home of Rams basketball when the legendary Earl “The Pearl” Monroe and Cleo Hill suited up for the Rams under the guidance of head coach Clarence E. “Big House” Gaines.

Since 2014, Whitaker Gymnasium has held a new distinction as the home of Rams volleyball. Since then, the Rams have compiled a pair of Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) championships. The gymnasium also serves as a practice facility for the Rams softball team.

Whitaker Gymnasium also serves as an educational facility for the University as it often serves to host fitness and dance classes within its storied halls. The facility also holds a secondary athletic training room for the University as well.
