2013 JUNIOR SEASON: Tony split time in the outfield, in a DH role, as a pinch hitter, and as catcher for the Rams last season. 2013 HIGHLIGHTS: Went 1-2 with 2 RBI including a double and a run scored against Armstrong Atlantic State University on 2/2/13…Collected his first Home Run as a Ram on 2/15/13 against Fairmont State University…Tony was 2-3, with an RBI, a double, 2 walks, and a run scored against Claflin University on 3/2/13…Went 1-4 including a double on 3/7/13 against Mars Hill…Contributed a BB, 2 runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base against Morehouse College on 3/14/13…Went 1-1 with a run scored against Lincoln University on 3/16/13.
2012 • SOPHOMORE SEASON (Kankakee Community College): Tony comes from Kankakee CC (IL) where hit .350 in 51 games…….hit 10 doubles, 2 triples and 4 home runs while driving in 44 runs……..also excelled in the classroom, earning himself a spot on the Dean’s List.
HIGH SCHOOL: At Bishop Mcnamara Tony performed well on the baseball field earning 1st team All-Chicago Catholic League.
PERSONAL: Tony is the son of Barb Spaulding……..major is Justice Studies……..ex-marine who has done tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq……..favorite athletic team is “Da” Bears……..favorite athlete is Michael Jordan……..favorite thing about WSSU Baseball is the organization and teammates.
COACH RITSCHE ON NUTTALL: Tony brings experience and leadership to our squad. He understands what I want to accomplish and is extremely vocal on the field. He’s a strong kid who wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s a great student and a leader in the weight room. His off-season improvements offensively will help reach our goals in 2014.
