2017: Matthew played in 37 games for the Rams…He finished the season with a .237 batting average with 22 hits in 93 at bats…He recorded three extra base hits with two doubles and a home run…He also totaled 14 runs batted in (RBI) with 14 runs scored…Defensively, he had a .933 fielding percentage with 12 putouts and two assists.  

Personal: Matthew joined the Rams in the spring of 2017…He comes to Winston-Salem State after two seasons at Wake Tech Community College…He is a 2011 graduate of North Rowan High School where he was an all-conference selection as a junior and as a senior…He was also named the Max Preps Player of the Year...At Wake Tech, he won the freshman and sophomore Coaches’ Award and was a second-team all-conference selection…He was also impressive in the classroom where he was named to the Dean’s List and took first place in the School Wide Engineering Competition…He is an Exercise Physiology major and the son of Corinne and Mark Mauldin.
