COACH RITSCHE ON ROBBINS:  “Michael will be returning for his senior season as captain once again in 2011. His leadership is an integral part of our squad as we look to build on our success from last season.  He not only sets the bar high in the classroom, but also represents the baseball team on and off the field with class, respect, and loyalty.   He even coaches a couple of our current younger players at Glenn High School before Michael came to WSSU in 2010.  On the field, he’s our hardest working player and is the best defensive catcher I’ve coached.  He handles our pitching staff well and last year was mentally and physically tough enough to withstand catching over 430 innings.  With the addition of two freshman catchers this season that are progressing nicely, we hope to provide Robbins with a few more games in the DH role in the spring.  He is smart on the bases and has above average speed for a catcher.”
