Winston-Salem State University

The Winston-Salem State University Rams football coaching staff looked to its past to lead its future with the addition of Corey Stewart as a defensive assistant coach. In his role with the team, Stewart will assist in the development of the Rams defensive backs and assist with video. A graduate of Winston-Salem State University, Stewart will not only bring a passion for the game, he was also bring a passion for the University as he leads the next generation of Rams.

Stewart will bring some quality experience to the Rams’ sidelines. Prior to joining the Rams’ coaching staff, he served as an assistant coach at nearby North Forsyth High School where he served as not only an assistant coach, but also as a wrestling and tennis coach. In total, Stewart spent nearly 12 years coaching in the high school ranks. During his time, he earned the Classified Employee of the Year Award in 2016 and 2019.

Stewart is no stranger to Winston-Salem State University. He is a former player with the Rams where he was named Hardest Worker on the team in 2007. He is a 2008 graduate of Winston-Salem State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications. He is married to Chante McLean Stewart.
