Coach Tony Jones joined the Rams in August 2024 as the men's assistant basketball coach.
Coach Jones was recently the Assistant Men’s Varsity Basketball coach at St. Pauls High School. During the 2021-2022 season, Coach Jones was the Men’s Varsity Head Basketball Coach at Seventy-First High School. At Seventy-First High School they won the Eastern Regional Champion in 3A NCHSAA playoffs and he was the District 4 Coach of the Year.
Before working at Seventy-First, Coach Jones served as the Men’s Associate Head coach the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (2020-21), he was the interim head coach during the 2019-2020 season and led the Braves to their first regular season championship and he was named Coach of the Year for the Peach Belt Conference. He also was the assistant coach for three years (2017-19).
“I'm truly thankful and blessed for this opportunity,” said Jones. “In the week that I've been here I'm really impressed with the "family feel" of the campus. The administration has been nothing short of immaculate. I want to thank AD Thomas and Coach Thompson for this amazing opportunity and I can't wait to continue to "Protect the legacy".
Coach Jones earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Sports Science in Sports Management and his Master’s of Arts in Physical Education in Exercise/Sports Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
