2013-14: Marquez broke out for a stellar junior season with the Rams…He stepped up to become the team’s top scoring threat…He finished the season as the conference leader in total points (591) and ranked second in the conference in points per game (20.5)…His sharp-shooting gave the Rams a much needed scoring touch on the perimeter as he finished the season with 65 three-pointers to lead the team and rank third in the conference…His top scoring effort came against the Lane Dragons in the Fresh Coast Classic where he poured in a career-high 35 points…He also connected on six three-pointers against Notre Dame College in the inaugural C.E. “Big House” Gaines Classic…Jones also finished the season with 52 steals to lead the team.

2012-13: Marquez played in one game for the Rams before taking a redshirt for the remainder of the season…He scored seven points with two steals against Barber-Scotia …He also added a rebound in just 13 minutes of play.

Personal: Marquez joined the Rams in the fall of 2012 and is one of many talented newcomers to the team…He comes to WSSU after spending time at Lenoir Community College…In his collegiate career at Lenoir, he earned first team all-region and first team all-conference honors…He also finished ranked in the top 10 nationally in scoring…He is a 2009 graduate of Kinston High School where he earned numerous honors as well, including being named a first team all-area selection, a first team all-conference selection, and being named to the all-state team in 2009…He was also named the Eastern Carolina Thanksgiving Tournament of Champions All-Tournament team…He is a Sports Management major and the son of Kennie Jones and Dorothy Green.
