2010: Aaron competed in all six cross country meets for the Rams…He posted his best time of the season, 24:30, at the Inaugural Wilbur Ross Invitational…In last year’s Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Cross Country Champions, Barnes place second in the 8K with a time of 25:57.6 and helped lead the Rams to the first conference championship in school history.

2009: There wasn’t a sophomore slump for Aaron who continued to be one of the top performers on the Rams’ cross country squad…He had a pair of third place finishes in the season at the UNC-Pembroke Invitational and at the Salem College Invitational…His best 8K time of the season came at the Greensboro Invitational where he finished 20^th with a 27:04.7. 

2008: Aaron had a great freshman season as a Ram in 2008…He finished the season with a pair of top ten finishes and a school record…He opened the season with a fifth place finish at the UNC-Pembroke Invitational with a 22:11.20 in the 6,437m event…He also had a seventh-placed finish at the Greensboro Cross Country Invitational in Hagan Stone Park in nearby Greensboro, N.C…He had a school-record performance at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Fla. when he placed 46^th in 8K event with a time of 26:47.90…The effort was the best 8K time in WSSU cross country history at the time.

Personal: Aaron will return to the Winston-Salem State Cross Country team as a sophomore this fall…He is a 2008 graduate of Westover High School in Fayetteville, N.C. where he had a distinguished career in cross country…He earned all-conference and regional honors in high school and was named team captain as a senior…He was also a regional qualifier in Junior Olympics…He was named a Distinguished Senior and an AIG Identified honoree…He is the son of Tonnie and Patricia Barnes…He was born on March 21, 1990.
