Biography
2023-2024: Amaya Tucker played 29 games and started in 28 and was averaging 35 minutes per game. Tucker averaged 11 points per game, was 39% FG, 31% from the three, and 71% FT. This year Amaya moved up to 2nd on the all time leading scorers list for women’s basketball. She was also First-Team All CIAA Front Court.
2022-2023: : Amaya had another outstanding season for the Rams this year. She averaged 15.6 points per game and 43.3% field goal, 40.5 % 3pt, and 74.5% from the free throw line. This year she surpassed 1,000 career points and is number one on the all-time three-pointers made list at 167. Tucker also averaged 2.9 assists and 2.8 steals per game. This performance led her to be named All-CIAA Backcourt and CIAA Women’s Player of the Year.
2021-2022: Amaya had an outstanding season averaging 13.6 pts per game, 43.3% field goal, 36.7% 3pt, 66.7% from the free throw line, and 4.2 rebounds per game. Amaya performance led to her achieving All-CIAA Backcourt.
2020-2021: No season due to Covid-19
2019-20: Amaya was off to a terrific start to the season, but it was cut short due to an injury. She played in just seven games for the Rams with seven starts. She scored 87 points and she was averaging 12.7 points per game before an injury ended the season. She scored a career-high 33 points against Converse.
2018-19: Amaya had a tremendous freshman season with the Rams. In her freshman season, she became the team's leading scorer averaging 16.0 points per game. She was especially impressive from long range where she was 72-of-180 from the three-point line. Her best game came against Chowan when she scored a career-high 34 points. For her efforts, she was named to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) All-Conference team and she was named the CIAA Rookie of the Year.
Personal: Amaya joined the Rams in the fall of 2018. She is a graduate of Reagan High School where she was one of the top players in the area. She was a four-time all-conference selection and a three-time All-Northwest player. She won a pair of conference championships and she was named the Mary Garber MVP. She scored over 1,000 career points. She was a third-team All-District selection and a second team All-District selection. She led her high school team to a pair of Mary Garber Championships and she was named the Winston-Salem Journal Athlete of the Week. She was named her team MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. She is an Exercise Science major and she is the daughter of Patrice and Terrin Tucker.
