Personal: Makayla Waleed is a Computer Science major from Washington, DC and attended St. Vincent Pallotti High School. Her parents are Malik Waleed and Monica Durham. She is a transfer from Temple University. While in high school, Makayla served as a combo guard who led her team to 21-6 during the 2019-20 season, falling to local rival St. Frances in the IAAM Championship. During her time at Temple, she averaged 11.1 minutes while putting in crucial clutch plays like back-to-back steals to win over teams like Cincinnati and Houston. Favorite hobbies include dj’ing, yoga, and trying new food. Favorite athletes are Kelsey Mitchell and Jaylen Brown. Favorite artists are Michael Jackson and J. Cole.

Played in 24 games... Saw a season-high 10 minutes recording three rebounds at Tulsa (2/12/22)... Recorded two steals in back-to-back games against Cincinnati (1/8/22) and Houston (1/15/22).

2022-23
Appeared in 16 games for the Cherry & White…Averaged 11.1 minutes on the season…Scored six points in 72-59 win over Wichita State (2/1)… Put up career best six rebounds at East Carolina on 2/8…Played a career-high 25 minutes at UCF (2/21).

2023-24
Appeared in nine games for the Owls...scored 11 points with five rebounds and four steals...had a season-high four points against Delaware State (11/6/23)

At WSSU:
2025-26: Makayla played 32 games, starting in 26, averaging 24.2 minutes per game. She averaged 10.9 points per game with 79.1% FT. In total, she had 348 points, 137 rebounds, 54 assists, and 84 steals.
