2011: Tyrah had another fantastic season for the Lady Rams cross country program…She was a member of the second straight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championship…She recorded a 5K personal best of 20:20.3 at the event where she placed fifth and earned All-CIAA honors for the second straight season…Her best finish of the season came at the 2^nd Annual Wilbur Ross Cross Country Invitational where she placed fourth with a 20:45.38.

2010: Tyrah had a solid sophomore season for the Lady Rams…She competed in five of the team’s six meets…Her season best 5K time came at the 2011 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Cross Country Championships where she ran a 21:06.8 and had an finished eighth to earn All-CIAA honors…She finished a season best fifth at the Inaugural Wilbur Ross Invitational, running a time of 22:09.

2009: Tyrah wasted little time becoming the Lady Rams’ top performer as she led the team in every meet of the season…She got her career off to a great start with a pair of top ten finishes…She got things started with a 25:29.22 6K effort at the 2009 UNC-Pembroke Invitational…She finished 10^th in the event…She won the 2009 Salem College Invitational where she led all runners with a 21:57.7 in the event…Her best 5K time of the season came at the Race of Champions at the American Cross Country Festival…She placed 56^th at the event with a 20:26.

Personal: Tyrah Winfrey will joins the Winston-Salem State cross country team this fall as a member of another talented freshman class…She is a multi-talented athlete whose focus remains on middle distance and cross country events…She comes to WSSU after a great high school career at 71^st High School in Fayetteville, N.C….She ran a 19:48 (5K) at the 2008 NCSHAA State 4-A Cross Country Championships, a 1:20 in the 500m NCSHAA State Indoor Track & Field Championships, and a 2:18 at the NCSHAA Outdoor State Championships…For her efforts, she earned team MVP honors as well as the Coach’s Award…She is the daughter of Marvin and Linda Thomas.
