Personal: The 2009-10 season will mark Carter's first season as a member of the Lady Rams' tennis team. Carter comes to Winston-Salem State following a great high school career and will provide an immediate boost to the young Lady Rams program. She has played competitive tennis in the United State Tennis Association (USTA) junior ranks for over 10 years and has been ranked in the top 25 of the North Carolina USTA junior ranks several times during her career. For her efforts she was chosen as one of the "South's Finest" representing North Carolina in the 2008 USTA Southern Tournament. She was also a runner-up in doubles play at the North Carolina Closed Tennis Tournament. During her career Carter has earned numerous honors, taking home Greater Neuse River Conference Player of the Year accolades during her time at Southeast Raleigh High School in 2005. She was also a GNR All-Conference honoree in 2005 and was named team MVP for her efforts that season. She also led her squad to the 2005 GNR conference championship. Carter is a coveted signee that chose WSSU over offers from Southern, IUPUI, Charlotte, and North Carolina A&T.
