2022-23(outdoor): Vanessa finished the season with a new PR and a 1st place win at the Livingstone XC Invitational with a time of 20:08.1

2022-23(indoor): Vanessa finished the season with a new PR in the 800 at the 2023 Aggie Classic with a time of 2:27.96.

2022 (Outdoor): Competed in five meets for the Rams, running the 3000 and mile at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, ran the 800 and 1500 at the Adidas Trojan Challenge finishing in fourth in 1500 (5:16.83), ran the 1500 and on the 4x400 relay at the Vertklasse Meeting, ran the 800 and 1500 at the Aggie Classic and helped the Rams clinch the CIAA Outdoor Championships winning the 3000 (11:14.29) and coming in second in the 1500 (4:58.62).


2021-22 (Indoor): Vanessa had a terrific indoor season this year for the Rams as a distance runner. At JDL Flat Is Fast Invitational she had ran her personal best 2:38.50 in the 800m dash. She was able to run her best time in the 1000m at Winston-Salem College Kick-Off with the time of 3:27.20. Vanessa had won the gold medal in the mile at the 2022 CIAA Indoor Track and Field Conference Championship with a time of 5:41.82. She ran her personal best time of the season in the 3000m at the Camel City Invitational with the time of 11:41.93. Vanessa was also a part of the Distance Medley Relay team that placed 4th at the 2022 CIAA Indoor Track and Field Conference Championship with the time of 14:11.00.

Personal: Vanessa joined the Rams in the fall of 2020. She is a graduate of North Forsyth High School where she had a great career. She set school indoor track & field records in the 1000m, 1600m, and 3200m. She also set the school cross country record in the 3200m and the two-mile. She was an all-conference selection in 2017, and she was a three-time team MVP. She also won the Coaches Award for Outdoor Track & Field in 2018. She led her team to conference championships in 2019-20. Academically, she was equally impressive with a spot on the A-B Honor Roll, the National Honor Society, and the Black Achievers. She served as her class president in 2020 and one of the Crosby Scholars. She is a Justice Studies major and she is the daughter of Suzanne Poindexter and Roderick Jones.
