Calvin Randall, III enters the upcoming season as the Associate Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator/Recruiting Coordinator, bringing over two decades of coaching experience across both sides of the ball.
Randall began his coaching career in 2000 as a student assistant defensive line coach at Winston-Salem State University, helping lead the Rams to a CIAA Championship. In 2001, he transitioned to coaching outside linebackers, mentoring one All-CIAA selection and one All-American.
He continued his coaching journey at Delta State University as a Graduate Assistant, working with linebackers in 2002 and defensive backs in 2003. That year, the Statesmen posted a 9-2 record and finished ranked 16th nationally in NCAA Division II.
In 2004, Randall joined Virginia Union University as the defensive backs coach, helping the Panthers achieve a top-15 national ranking in total defense. He was promoted to Defensive Coordinator in 2005 before switching to the offensive side in 2006 to coach wide receivers. Under his guidance, the Panthers’ offense flourished, ranking among the CIAA’s best in multiple categories and capturing the CIAA Eastern Division title in 2007.
Randall was elevated to Offensive Coordinator in 2008, leading an offense that ranked first in the CIAA in rushing and third in total offense. He was named Assistant Head Coach and Wide Receivers Coach in 2009, helping guide the team to a share of the CIAA Eastern Division Championship. Randall served in several roles at Virginia Union such as Recruiting Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator, and Assistant head Coach.
In 2013 Randall accepted the Offensive Coordinator position at Fayetteville State University coaching the Quarterbacks and Wide Receivers. In 2016 Randall accepted the Quarterbacks position at Mississippi Valley State University. Randall returned to Fayetteville State in 2017 coaching Tight Ends and Running Backs. He was elevated to Offensive Coordinator in 2021 and 2023. In 2022, Randall coached the Quarterbacks who led Fayetteville State to the CIAA championship and NCAA playoff berth. Randall recently had two of his players selected for the HBCU legacy bowl as well.
A highly respected recruiter, Randall has served as the Recruiting Coordinator at previous institutions playing a pivotal role in assembling several strong recruiting classes. He was also selected to participate in the prestigious NCAA/NFL Coaches
Academy in 2012. Randall has served as a guest speaker at Minority Coaches of Georgia and North Carolina High School coaches association conventions.
Randall earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Winston-Salem State University in 2002 and his Masters in Liberal Studies from Delta State University in 2017. Randall also is a certified Social Studies teacher having taught American History for 9 years. He is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. Coach Randall is married to the former Natasha Mcduffie who also is an alumnus of Winston Salem State University.
Coach Randall’s recruiting areas include Charlotte and surrounding areas, metro Atlanta, and Kansas/Northeast junior colleges.
