Winston-Salem State University

No stranger to the Rams program, Jasahn Rankin returns to Winston-Salem State as an assistant football coach, working primarily with the linebackers and contributing to the defensive unit. A former standout linebacker, Rankin brings firsthand experience, leadership, and a deep understanding of the Rams’ defensive identity to the coaching staff.

Rankin’s return marks a full-circle moment, as he transitions from impact player to mentor, helping develop the next generation of WSSU defenders. Known for his physicality, football IQ, and relentless motor during his playing days, he now instills those same qualities into his position group.
 
Rankin plays a key role in shaping a disciplined and aggressive defensive approach. His emphasis on preparation, fundamentals, and accountability aligns with the program’s commitment to excellence on and off the field.

Rankin joins a dedicated and experienced coaching staff as the Rams prepare for the upcoming 2025 season. His addition reinforces Winston-Salem State’s mission to build a championship-caliber program grounded in leadership, toughness, and a relentless defensive mindset.

Rankin is a proud 2023 graduate of Winston-Salem State University graduating with his bachelors in Business Administration. He is currently pursuing his masters from WSSU.
