Winston-Salem State University

Brian Coxton took the reins of the Winston-Salem StateUniversity tennis program in the spring of 2013. After spendingover half a decade with the WSSU tennis program, Coxton took overas head coach of the program. Under his guidance the WSSU tennisprograms continued their rise as one of the premier programs in theNCAA Division II Atlantic Region.

Coxton joined the WSSU coaching staff in the spring of 2012after playing four years with the Rams. During his career, Coxtonled the Rams to a second place finish in the CentralIntercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and the team’sfirst appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs.

In his first season as the head coach of the WSSU tennis teams,he led the Rams to their first CIAA championship in school historyafter upsetting the eight-time defending conference champion ShawBears. The Lady Rams also had a strong season, finishing third inthe CIAA Southern Division.

Coxton is a 2011 graduate of Winston-Salem State University.
