WSSU Head Coach Kermit Blount
How did you think you all did tonight Coach Blount?
We made some mistakes, we had some turnovers but that's the name of the game. This was the first one out of the box and even with all the mistakes we made tonight I think that we can improve quite a bit. I am just pleased with the win, anytime, regardless of how you get it. Our kids played hard, but like I said we made some mistakes and I think that they are all correctable.
What do you think about Monte's performance?
He showed maturity and he matured a lot as a senior. We stuck with Monte and he stuck with us. He is our starting QB and he is doing some things to get better as far as running the new offense. I think that the new offense is working very well.
How do you feel about the performance of the passing game?
The running game opens up the passing game a lot. When you can go two-fold you can do both things. You have a good chance being a good football team. Offensively we had a good night.
Can you elaborate?
We had a run for the football, we had a lot of speed and that's what we based our defense off of. Coach Ketchem has done a good job in getting these guys ready. I am just happy the kids stepped up tonight, that's what it is really about.
Talk about Jed Bines.
I am just happy to see him run again, I missed him last year. He is a very exciting runner. He has made Brandon McRae even better. So that is going to be a competition battle all year. Our offensive game is going to be good this year.
What did you think about the game, Coach Lee Fobbs?
I am not really happy about tonight's game. We could've played better in the first half. We should've come out the chute better. We tried to take advantage of things, but it just didn't work. We just have to play better on offense. We had a little bit of momentum going, but we didn't protect the ball like we wanted to. It just didn't turn out the way we wanted it to.
