Rams Pick Up 8-1 Win Over Chowan at CIAA Cross Divisional Round-Up

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Winston-Salem State Rams (3-5, 1-0 CIAA) are picking up steam as the team took an 8-1 win over the Chowan Hawks (1-5, 0-1 CIAA) on the opening day of the 2011 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Cross Divisional Round-Up, Saturday. The win marked the second straight for the Rams after an 8-1 home win over the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, Monday.

The Rams opened the match with three straight doubles wins, 8-3, 8-4, and 8-4. The team kept things going in singles play with five wins. WSSU senior Ian Hunter had the most impressive singles win with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Freshman Creighton Jones added a 6-1, 6-1 singles win as well.
