FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (4-8, 4-3 CIAA) had their four-match winning streak snapped when the team took a three-set road loss to the Fayetteville State Lady Broncos (9-8, 6-2 CIAA), Tuesday evening. The Lady Rams gave it their all in the loss, but a powerful FSU serving attack, combined with some untimely errors by the Lady Rams proved costly to the team in the tough loss.
The Lady Rams had some solid efforts in the match, falling 25-23, 25-20, and 25-15. The Lady Rams gave a great effort in the match with 25 total kills, just five fewer than the Broncos, but the team committed 10 receiving errors, along with 19 attack errors to seal the loss for the Lady Rams. The team saw some quality individual efforts in spite of the loss as junior Avoni Seymour led the WSSU effort with eight kills and six digs. Senior setter Kiara Brown added a team-high 19 assists in the match.
With the loss, the Lady Rams fall to 4-8 overall and to 4-3 in the Central intercollegiate Athletic Association. The team will return home for the next match as they host the reigning conference champion Saint Augustine's Lady Falcons in a Friday evening match, followed by an afternoon home match against Wingate.
