ETTRICK, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams improved to 3-1 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play when the team took a 5-1 win over the Virginia State Trojans, Saturday. The Rams recorded nine hits in the game while holding the Trojans to just five in the game.
As a team, the Rams totaled nine hits in the game, including five RBI and just one strikeout. WSSU junior infielder Paco Martin led the effort for the Rams with a two-for-four effort at the plate with a run scored and an RBI. Freshman outfielder Jacob Nunn added a pair of hits with a run scored as well.
The Rams opened the game on a high note with three unanswered run in the first three innings and closed the game with a pair of seventh-inning runs while allowing one run to the Trojans in the third inning.
With the win, the Rams improve to a 3-1 in CIAA play and capped a doubleheader sweep over the Virginia State Trojans. The Rams will complete the three-game weekend series with a single game against the Trojans, tomorrow.
