Rams, Lady Rams Impress Home Crowd at WSSU Collegiate Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Rams and Lady Rams and Lady Rams track & field teams put on some impressive performances in front of the hometown brown at the 2012 Winston-Salem State University Collegiate Invitational, Saturday at Civitan Park on the campus of Winston-Salem State University.

The Lady Rams had a great showing on the day with some impressive performances. The team dominated the women's 400m run with the top four places in the event. Senior Shanika Lamons won the event with a 55.76 while fellow sophomore Jasmine Ross added a 56.45. The Lady Rams 4x400m relay also had a great day, winning the event with a 3:47.40 in the event while the WSSU 'B' team placed second with a 4:01.02 in the event.

The Rams also had a strong outing in front of the home crowd with several great performances as well. WSSU freshman Michael Neal led the way, winning the men's 100m dash with a 10.65 and placing second in the men's 200m dash with a 21.37.   

Both of the WSSU track & field teams will return to action next weekend when the teams head to Charlotte, N.C. to take part in the Johnson C. Smith Invitational.
