PETERSBURG, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (14-11) opened the 2012 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Tennis Championship Tournament on a high note with a 5-0 win over the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls, Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Rams advance to the semifinals of the tournament.
WSSU opened the tournament on a high note with three straight doubles wins. The Rams took an 8-2 win at #1 doubles, an 8-1 win at #2 doubles, and an 8-0 win at #3 doubles. The Rams kept their momentum going in singles play where sophomore Jonathan Aubrey took a 6-0, 6-0 singles win while freshman Drew Dunzweiler took a 6-0, 6-0 win.
With the win, the Rams advanced to the semifinal round of the tournament where they will take on the Virginia State Trojans, whom the Rams split in their two meetings earlier this season.
