Rams Battle, But Fall Short in 7-2 Loss to West Virginia Wesleyan

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (2-4) gave a strong overall effort, but came up short in a hard-fought 7-2 loss to the West Virginia Wesleyan College Bobcats (5-3-1), Thursday afternoon. The short-handed Rams took the loss in spite of some very strong individual performances.

After opening the match with a default loss at #3 doubles, the Rams bounced back when the tandem of senior Creighton Jones and junior Jonathan Aubrey took an 8-5 win at #1 doubles. However, the team ended doubles play with an 8-5 loss at #2 doubles.

In singles play, sophomore Josh Aubrey was the sole Ram to take a win as he cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win at #2 singles.

With the loss, the  Rams fall to 2-4 overall, but will look to bounce back when they  head to Richmond, Virginia to take part in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round Up.
