The second and third quarters proved to be the downfall for the Winston-Salem State Women's basketball team as they fell to #1 ranked Alaska-Anchorage 73-46.

The Rams, playing in the longest road trip of any team in WSSU history, managed only six points in the second quarter.  'SU's first bucket didn't come until 6:03 remaining before halftime.  Meanwhile, the Seawolves jumped to a 14-point lead.

Senior Laichelle Sparrow's two free throws cut the Rams deficit to 29-19 with 5:45 to play.  'SU would only score two more points on a pair of free throws by Sparrow with 5:05 before the half ended.

The Rams scoring drought continued in the third quarter.  Senior Kendra Ross connected on two free throws with 9:47 remaining.  WSSU would not score again until senior Dajha Williams hit a layup with 2:45 to play.  The quarter ended with Alaska-Anchorage holding a 31-point lead.

The Rams outscored the Seawolves17-13 in the final quarter.

Senior Melody Prichard was the only Ram to score in double figures, finishing with 10 points.  The team's leading scorer, sophomore Amaya Tucker, was held to two points.  Williams was the leading rebounder with seven.

The Rams managed only one field goal in the second quarter and two in the third quarter, finishing the game 13-54 for 24.1 percent.  'SU hit only one of 10 three-pointers.  WSSU was nearly perfect at the free throw line, connecting on 19 of 21 attempts for 90.5 percent.

Alaska-Anchorage scored 30 points off 26 'SU turnovers and outscored the Rams 36-16 in points off the bench.
