WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University volleyball team defeated Johnson C. Smith University in five sets (25-19, 23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 15-12) Thursday night inside Whitaker Gymnasium.
The Rams move to (10-11, 6-6 CIAA), while the Golden Bulls fall to (5-12, 3-9 CIAA).
How it Happened
JCSU opened set one on a 2-0 scoring run before the Rams answered back scoring three points including a kill by
Kaylen McClinton to take a 3-2 lead and kept the momentum going to take the set 25-19 and lead the match 1-0.
JCSU tied the match at 1-1 during set two with a score of 25-23. Then took a 2-1 lead after winning set three, 25-20.
The Rams fought hard to take set four by outscoring the Golden Bulls with 18 kills to their 15 and won the set 25-23 to tie the match 2-2.
It was all WSSU in set five reaching eight points first and later winning the set 15-12 to take the match 3-2.
