WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University Student-Athletes Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.) participated in the campus mental health awareness initiative by passing out candy canes wrapped in words of affirmations inside the DJR foyer Thursday afternoon.
The organization wanted to ensure that everyone going into final exams was relaxed and knew they could tackle the tasks.
Members from S.A.A.C. had these thoughts:
Football wide receiver Antjuan Collins said, "The activity today was powerful and brought many smiles on people's faces."
Cross Country/Track and Field runner Vanessa Jones shared "today's activity was to help encourage students to do well especially with final exams coming up and remind them of positive affirmations. "Sometimes you need to be reminded you are confident, happy healthy, and enough. I feel like this will help the students challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts."
