Box Score ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Four Lady Rams scored in double figures as the Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team defeated Claflin 59-53 inside Edward L. Tullis Arena.

The Rams improved to 10-6 (6-2 CIAA), while Claflin moved to 9-7 (3-5 CIAA).

Amaya Tucker led the Rams with 16 points, and Kennedi Simmons added 11 points. Jainaya Jones and Erin Hall had 10 points each. Taniah Wilkins had seven points and eight rebounds with three assists.

The Rams opened the first quarter on a 12-0 scoring run. They ended the quarter up six, 18-12.

With 9:12 left to play in the half, the Rams led 21-12 after an and-one lay-up sent Taniah Wilkins to the line. The Rams used another 5-0 scoring run to lead 26-15 with 4:45 to play in the half. WSSU went into the half leading 34-19.

WSSU lead 36-28 in the third with 4:06 to play. The Panthers came within six with 3:29 left in the quarter. They went into the fourth quarter leading 40-36.

Kennedi Simmons hit a three to give the Rams a 43-38 with 8:50 left to play. With 7:59 left in the game, the Panthers came within one, 43-42, and took their first lead (45-42) of the night with 7:31 to play.

With 5:31 left to play, the game was tied at 47-all. Amaya Tucker hit a two to give the Rams a 51-49 lead and Jainaya Jones and Taniah Wilkins forced back-to-back turnovers and a foul on Amaya Tucker gave the Rams a three-point 54-51 lead with 1:07 to play. With 34 seconds left to play Jainaya Jones went to the line and hit both free throws to give the Rams a 56-51 lead. Made free throws from Amaya Tucker and Alexandria Warren sealed the deal as WSSU won 59-53.

The Rams will be back in action on Saturday, January 22nd hosting Fayetteville State at 2 p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center.
