ETTRICK, VA. – The Winston-Salem State Volleyball team finished 2-1 at the CIAA round-up over the weekend picking up victories over Bowie State and Virginia Union. They dropped a match to Bluefield State.

The Rams are now 4-8 (2-3 CIAA).

How it happened vs. Bowie State (25-22, 25-13, 23-25, 25-22)
Bowie State opened set one with a 6-4 lead before the Rams responded with a 4-0 scoring run to take an 8-6 lead. BSU answered back with its own scoring run taking a 10-9 lead. After being tied at 12, points went back and forth eventually ending with service aces from Jewel Pitt to help secure the 25-22 victory in set one. The Rams completely dominated in set two taking an early 14-5 lead and taking the set 25-13. BSU answered back by winning set three, 25-23 but the Rams secured the match by winning set four 25-22.

The Big Blue swept the Rams in three straight sets to take the match 3-0.

How it happened vs. Virginia Union (25-17, 26-24, 22-25, 22-25, 15-8)
It took five sets, but the Rams pulled out the victory. WSSU took the first set 25-17 before going into extra to pull off the win in set two, 26-24. VUU replied back winning sets three and four but the Rams secured the deal winning the fifth and final set, 15-8 and taking the match 3-2.
