WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team defeated the University of Mount Olive 88-68 Tuesday evening inside the C.E. Gaines Center.
The Rams improved to 2-1, (0-0 CIAA).
Jaylen Alston had a career night scoring 31 points.
Isaac Parson added 20 points and eight rebounds and six assists. Ketron "KC" Shaw dished in eight points as well as
Tristan Davis.
Quick Inside the Numbers
The Rams shot 33-of-64 from the field and 16-of – 24 from the free throw line. They scored 44 points in the paint and nine fast break points.
The first four minutes of the game was pretty close till the Rams found themselves up 10, 19-10 with 10:18 to play in the half. The Rams went into halftime leading by 16, 52-36.
The Rams were scoring on all cylinders increasing their lead to as much as 28, 70-42 with 13:43 to play in the game. WSSU never let up and under the five-minute media timeout, they led by 24, 79-55. They finished the game with a final score of 88-68.
WSSU will be back in action competing in the Chris Paul HBCU Tip-off on Saturday, November 18-19. They will first take on Tuskegee in Uncasville, Connecticut at 8 p.m.
