BRONX, N.Y.– The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team defeated Bloomfield College 65-50 in the Harlem Renaissance Classic inside Gauchos Gym Saturday afternoon.
The Rams improved (5-2, 0-0 CIAA).
Jaylen Alston led the Rams with a double-double of 31 points and 12 rebounds, Ketron "KC" Shaw had eight points and
Isaac Parson scored eight points with seven assists.
Quick Inside the Numbers
The Rams went 26-of-54 from the field, and 10-of-16 from the free-throw line. They scored 30 points in the paint, 10 points off of turnovers. The Rams grabbed 39 rebounds.
In the first half, the Rams jumped out to a 9-0 lead highlighted by a
Jeremy Dixon three-pointer with 17:27 left in the half.
Jahnarious Snell's jumper extended the Rams lead to 10 points 20-10 with 9:21 left. The Bears ended the half on a 16-7 run as the Rams held a one-point lead at halftime 27-26.
In the second half, the Rams went on a 13-0 run taking a commanding lead 40-26 with 14:35 left highlighted by back-to-back
Jaylen Alston lay-ups. The Rams went on a 9-0 run and had the largest lead of the game with 22 points, 55-33 with 8:41 left. They closed out the game by 15.
