Men’s Basketball Close Out 2023 with Win over Lincoln (Pa)

LINCOLN, Pa. – The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team edged out Lincoln University (Pa) 67-65 at Manuel Rivero Hall.
 
The Rams improved to (9-3, 3-0 CIAA) and end the year on a four-game win streak.
 
Jaylen Alston led the Rams with a double-double, 21 points, and 10 rebounds, while Isaac Parson chipped in with 12 points and six assists.  Imajae Dodd scored 10 points, and Jaylin Parker had nine points.
 
Quick Inside the Numbers
The Rams went 25-of-51 from the field, 10-of-16 from the free-throw line, and 7-of--20 from three.  They scored 32 points in the paint, 12 points off turnovers. The Rams grabbed 36 rebounds and 15 second-chance points.
 
In the first half, the Lions were up 17-9 as Jaylin Parker hit a three-pointer cutting the score to 17-12 with 11:43 left. The Lions answered back with an 11-2 run pushing the score to 28-14 with 6:53 left. The Rams would respond back, closing out the half on an 18-8 run, highlighted by two huge free-throws by Jaylen Alston making the score 36-32 at halftime.
 
In the second half, Jaylen Alston started a 6-0 run for the Rams as they took the lead 38-36 with 18:12 left. Isaac Parson would extend the Ram's lead to five points 44-39 with 13:25 left. The Lions went on a 9-0 run tying the game at 50-50 with 8:17 left. Jaylin Parker answered back with a three-pointer 53-50 with 7:23 left. Isaac Parson hit a big three-pointer with 2:06 left giving the Rams a 60-59 lead. With 45 seconds left Jeremy Dixon connected on a huge three-pointer giving the Rams the lead 65-62. With the game tied at 65 Isaac Parson dished the ball to Imajae Dodd as he slammed home for the game-winning bucket.
 
Up Next
The Rams will begin the new year at home hosting Elizabeth City State University, on Thursday, January 4th. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center.
