BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team picks up their first conference win of the season outlasting Bluefield State 82-71 Thursday night.
The Rams improved to (6-3, 1-0 CIAA) while Bluefield moved to (3-7, 0-1 CIAA).
Jaylen Alston led the Rams with 21 points and seven rebounds, while
Isaac Parson scored 15 points with seven rebounds and six assists.
Jahnarious Snell had 13 points going 3-of-5 from the three-point line.

The Rams went 31-of-50 from the field, 5-of-11 from three. They scored 50 points in the paint, 11 points off turnovers. The Rams grabbed 45 rebounds and 23 bench points.
In the first half,
Jeremy Dixon opened the game up with a three-pointer giving the Rams an early 3-0 lead. The Rams would regain the lead on a three-pointer by
Jahnarious Snell making the score 25-23 with 9:51 left.
Isaac Parson hit a three-pointer giving the Rams a 39-35 lead with 46 seconds left, and the Rams would take a 39-38 lead into halftime.
In the second half, coming out of halftime
Jaylen Alston made a lay-up extending the Rams lead to three 41-38. The Big Blue would go on a 7-0 run to extend their largest lead of the game to seven 60-53, with 12:36 left.
Tristan Davis ended the run with two big free-throws making the score 60-55 with 12:26 left. The Rams would go on a 9-0 run capped off with a Daylin Brandon dunk giving the Rams the lead back 62-60 with 10:07 left. The Rams would close out the game outscoring the Big Blue 20-11.
