PEMBROKE N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team came up short in overtime falling to UNC Pembroke 63-62 Saturday night.
The Rams moved to (5-4, 0-0 CIAA).
Kennedi Simmons led the Rams with 23 points, and Amya Tucker scored 13 points with five assists.
Tolisha Walker also scored 13 points.

The Rams went 21-of-61 from the field, 9-of-13 from the free-throw line. The Rams grabbed 43 rebounds, 14 assists, 36 points in the paint, and 11 second-chance points.
In the first quarter, after a slow start,
Kennedi Simmons hit a three-pointer tying the game 7-7 with 4:57 left. The Braves went on a 7-0 run, as
Amaya Tucker hit a three-pointer ending the run making the score 14-10 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Braves went on an 8-0 run giving them their largest lead of the game, up 10 points 26-16. The Rams answered back with an 11-0 run highlighted by a jumper by
Kennedi Simmons giving the Rams a 27-26 lead going into halftime.
In the second half,
Kennedi Simmons gave the Rams their first lead of the second half 33-32 with 5:17 left. Simmons would give the Rams a three-point lead on a jumper 37-34 with 2:20 left. The Rams would hold on to a one-point lead after the 3rd quarter, 37-36. In the fourth quarter,
Kennedi Simmons gave the Rams a four-point lead 47-43 with 6:57 left. Down by three
Amaya Tucker hit the game-tying three-pointer evening the game 56-56 with 23 seconds left, sending the game into overtime. In overtime, the Rams had a three-point lead with less than a minute remaining and couldn't hold it.
