COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Winston-Salem State University softball team dropped two contests to Benedict College Wednesday afternoon at Tiger Field.
The Rams moved to 4-6 on the season.
How it Happened- Game 1
The Tigers scored first in the bottom of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead, but the Rams answered back in the top of third after
Aniyah Jackson hit a homerun to bring the game to 1-1. Benedict scored another run in the bottom of the third to take a 2-1 lead. WSSU scored two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Tigers scored three more runs between the fourth and fifth inning to secure the 5-3 victory.
Alicia Carrington pitched 5.1 innings with three strikeouts.
Zahirah Williams pitched her first game with the Rams throwing 0.2 inning with one strikeout.
How it Happened – Game 2
The Tigers scored early take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, then two home runs in the fifth inning gave Benedict a 6-0 lead. WSSU scored one run in the top of the sixth, but the Tigers secured the victory.
Sierra Crocker pitched 4.2 inning with one strikeout and
Alicia Carrington threw 1.1 inning in the game.
The Rams will be back in action on March 21 hosting Allen University for a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m.
