WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University softball team had double victories over Allen University Tuesday afternoon at Twin Cities Ballpark in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The Rams moved to 6-6 on the season.
How It happened – Game 1
Allen scored two runs early after Daeshonna Beckham-Timmons hit a 2RBI homer in the top of the first inning. The Rams answered back in the bottom of the first inning with three runs after
Alycia Cunningham hit a 2RBI double. The Rams added two more runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-2 lead. Then, in the fourth, after
Alicia Carrington hit an RBI triple,
Ahmiya Laboy hit an RBI double,
Taisha Bratton hit a 2 RBI homer the Rams ended the game with a final score of 11-2 to mercy rule the Yellow Jackets.
Alicia Carrington threw 4.1 innings with a season-high seven strikeouts moving to 2-1 on the season and
Malia Simmons pitched 0.2 innings to conclude the game.
How it happened – Game 2
The Rams kept the bats rolling into game two taking an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. WSSU added to the scoreboard with four more runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-0 lead. Winston scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth and sixth inning to secure the victory.
Sierra Crocker pitched 6.0 innings for the Rams and had five strikeouts.
Winston-Salem State University softball is back in action this weekend March 23-25 participating in the CIAA Round-up hosted by Elizabeth City in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The Rams will first take on Bowie State at 11 am on day one of the roundup.
