WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University softball team swept Livingstone College Thursday afternoon at Twin City Ballpark.
The Rams improved to 15-9 (8-2 CIAA).
How it Happened – Game 1
The Rams got off to an early start taking a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Livingstone answered back with three runs of its own to bring the score to 4-3 in the top of the second inning, but the Rams added two more runs to end the inning with a 6-3 lead. It was all WSSU after that scoring five runs in the bottom of the third and four more in the bottom of the fourth to mercy rule the Blue Bears 15-3.
Alicia Carrington earned the win after throwing 5.0 innings and striking out four batters.
How it Happened – Game 2
Livingstone scored their only two runs in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead early. WSSU responded with two runs in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game at 2-2. Zahira Williams hit an RBI double to help increase the Rams' lead to 6-2. Then, an RBI triple from
Alicia Carrington gave the Rams an 8-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
Sierra Crocker hit an RBI groundout to score Kamyrn Kirby in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the 10-2 victory.
Sierra Crocker earned the win after pitching the entire game with six strikeouts.
WSSU will be back in action next Friday, April 21st at St. Augustine's for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
