RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State University softball team sweeps St. Augustine's University on Friday, April 21st in Raleigh, NC.
The Rams improved to 17-9 (10-2 CIAA), while St. Aug falls to 3-17 (1-11 CIAA).
How it Happened – Game 1
The Falcons jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Rams responded by scoring 18 unanswered runs. The Rams were offensively by
Aniyah Jackson who drove in five runs.
Taisha Bratton drove in three runs.
Kamryn Kirby,
Sierra Crocker, and
Teanna Davis each chipped in with 2 RBIs a piece. Taylor Hillard had one rbi. The Rams won the first game 18-2.
Alicia Carrington is the winning pitcher after pitching a complete game and striking out six. She improved to 6-3 on the season.
How it Happened – Game 2
St. Aug jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Rams responded in the top of the second by scoring six runs. The Falcons were able to squeeze across another run in the bottom of the second, but the Rams were able to add to their lead scoring runs in the third, fourth, and fifth inning to make the final score 15-2.
Sierra Crocker was the winning pitcher going 5.0 inning making her 5-4 on the season.
