WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Over the past weekend, teams from the Winston-Salem State University athletics department spent their time in the communities on various give-back initiatives.
First, on Saturday, August 26, the Rams in partnering with the Walter G White YMCA, hosted the "Brighter Beginnings" event where they spent their Saturday afternoon helping students get ready for back to school by shopping at Walmart. Teams included the Powerhouse Team of Red and White, football, cross country team, softball team, and volleyball.
Later that day, the women's basketball team made an appearance at the annual Triad Minority & Women's Business Expo.
Then, to kick off the week, members from the football team, softball and Powerhouse greeted students, faculty, and staff at Cook Elementary, Ashley Elementary, and Mineral Springs Middle as they started the school year.
