Academic Achievement Recipients Announced

CLEVELAND - The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) announced the 2022-23 recipients of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards. The Academic Achievement Awards, in its 16th year, is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level.

In total, there were a record-breaking 19,646 student-athletes from 196 institutions recognized for the 2022-23 Academic Achievement Awards. This is the most student-athletes being recognized since the inception of the awards program.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) has the largest number of student-athlete honorees with 1,923 total.

To qualify for this honor, the following must occur:
· The AD MUST BE a CURRENT dues-paying member of the D2 ADA.
· Student-athlete must have …
o a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
o have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college-level work
o have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year

From the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) the following schools had student-athletes make the list:
Bowie State University, Elizabeth City State University, Lincoln University (PA), Virginia State University, and Winston-Salem State University.

WSSU had the most (55) student-athletes in the conference.

Making up the 55 for the Rams were, 10 football players, one men's basketball, one men's cross country, two golf, three women's basketball, four women's cross country, three softball, three tennis, nine indoor track and field, ten outdoor track and field, and nine volleyball.
