WINSTON-SALEM N.C- The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team will continue conference play hosting Elizabeth City State University, on Thursday, January 4th inside C.E. Gaines Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
The Lady Rams will then welcome in Virginia State University on Saturday, January 6th inside the C.E. Gaines Center. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. The Lady Rams will wrap their homestand against non-conference foe UVA-Wise inside C.E. Gaines Center on Monday, January 8th. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

CIAA Preseason:
Amaya Tucker and
Kennedi Simmons were named to the 2022-2023 All-CIAA Women's Basketball Preseason Team Backcourt. Tucker is returning as the reigning CIAA Player of the Year. She finished last season averaging 15.6 points per game and led the Rams in three-point percentage with 40%. Tucker also shot 74% from the free-throw line. Simmons was second on the Rams in scoring, averaging 9.1 points per game. Kennedi shot 72% from the free-throw line.

Elizabeth City State University (6-5, 0-3 CIAA) Vikings defeated Edwards Waters (Fla) 67-61 on Saturday, December 30th. Alanis Hill led the Vikings with 16 points, followed by Rashauna Grant with 12 points, both NyAsia Blango and Dy'Jhanik Armfield both had 10 points. Alanis Hill is the Vikings leading scorer averaging 11.2 points a game. The Vikings are scoring 67.6 points a game.
Virginia State University (11-1, 3-1 CIAA) defeated Chowan University 66-47 on Saturday, December 30th. Tiyanna James led the Trojans with 18 points, followed by Mihjae Hayes with 13 points and eight assists. Both Cabria Lewis and Amesha Miller chipped in with 10 points. Amesha Miller is the Trojans leading scorer averaging 13.7 points a game, followed by Tiyanna James with 13.4 points, Mihjae Hayes with 11.2 points and Cabria Lewis with 10.8 points.
The Trojans average 75.5 points a game, while only giving up 61.6 points per game.
