WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team will host divisional rivals this week. First up the Rams will face-off against Johnson C. Smith University on Thursday, February 1st. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center. The Lady Rams will then take on Livingstone College on Saturday, February 3rd. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. inside C.E. Gaines Center.

Since 2006 this will be the 30th match-up between the Rams and Golden Bulls. The Rams are currently on a two-game-winning streak against the Golden Bulls. The Rams won both match-ups last season. The Rams won the first match-up 71-55 on January 26th, 2023. In the second match-up, the Rams defeated the Golden Bulls 69-62 on February 15th, 2023.

CIAA Preseason:
Amaya Tucker and
Kennedi Simmons were named to the 2022-2023 All-CIAA Women's Basketball Preseason Team Backcourt. Tucker is returning as the reigning CIAA Player of the Year. She finished last season averaging 15.6 points per game and led the Rams in three-point percentage with 40%. Tucker also shot 74% from the free-throw line. Simmons was second on the Rams in scoring, averaging 9.1 points per game. Kennedi shot 72% from the free-throw line.
CIAA Weekly Awards
- Jakaiya Mack was named CIAA Player of the Week for week seven.
- La'Niya Simes was named CIAA Rookie of the Week for weeks 10, 11 and 12.

The Golden Bulls fell to Claflin University 82-65 on Saturday, January 27th. Kellis Carmon led the Golden Bulls with 15 points and seven rebounds, followed by Najah Lane with 14 points and six rebounds. Ciara Harris chipped in with 10 points. Ciara Harris is the Golden Bulls leading scorer averaging 14.4 points a game, followed by Kellis Carmon with 11.7 points per game, and Ashlei Kirven with 10.9 points a game.
The Golden Bulls are scoring 63.5 points a game.
They later defeated Shaw University yesterday January 30, 71-49 at Brayboy Gym.
Livingstone College (4-10, 2-8 CIAA)
The Blue Bears fell to Mars Hill University 78-59 on Saturday, January 27th. Both Andre'sia Alexander and Jamiah Lane led the Blue Bears with 16 points and eight rebounds. Jamiah Lane is the Blue Bears leading scorer averaging 11.5 points a game, followed by Samiyah Briggs with 10.0 points per game. Andre'sia Alexander with 9.1 points per game
