RALEIGH – The Winston-Salem State University volleyball team fell to the Bears of Shaw University, 3-1 inside C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
The Rams moved to 12-9 (7-4 CIAA).

In set one, the Rams jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a Shaw error. The Bears answered back with a 7-0 run, taking a 7-2 lead. The Bears then went on a 4-0 run extending their lead to 12-4. With the score 14-6 Shaw, the Rams went on a 3-0 run making the score 14-9 on a Shaw attack error. The Rams kept the fight going as they cut the score down to 23-17 with a
Malani Martin ace. Shaw took set one 25-18 and led the match 1-0.
In set two, Shaw jumped out to a 2-0 lead, the Rams answered back with a 5-0 run taking a 5-2 lead on a
Malani Martin kill. The Bears went on a 4-0 run, taking an 8-7 lead. The Rams answered back, tying the game at 9-9 with a
Zoe Chesson kill. The Bears went on a 4-0 run extending their lead to 16-11. With the score 16-13 Shaw went on a 3-0 run, pushing the score to 19-13. Shaw closed out the set on a 9-2 run, taking set two 25-15 and leading the match 2-0.

Malani Martin kill. The Rams went on a 3-0 run, taking a 14-10 lead on a
Lexis Tatum kill. Shaw cut the lead to 18-15. The Bears went on a 4-0 run tying the game 19-19. The Rams answered back with two straight points 21-19 with a
Kamiyah Wilson kill. The Rams took a 23-20 lead on a Shaw error. WSSU took set three 25-23 and trailed the match, 2-1.
In set four, the Rams took an early 2-0 lead on a Shaw attack. With the score tied at 3-3 the Bears went on a 5-0 run taking a 8-3 lead. The Bears pushed the score to a 12-3 lead. Shaw went on an 5-1, taking a 17-4 lead. The Bears took the set three 25-6 and won the match 3-1.
