PETERSBURG, VA– The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team comeback falls short 69-66 against Shepherd University Friday night.
The Rams move to (0-1, 0-0 CIAA) on the season.
Micah Jones led the Rams with 15 points, Welsey Tubbs scored 14 points, followed by
Lorenzo Caldwell chipped in with 10 points.

The Rams went 23-of-65 from the field, 12-of-32 from the free-throw line, and 8-of-26 from three. They scored 26 points in the paint, and 12 second-chance points. The Rams grabbed 27 rebounds, 22 points off turnovers, and 16 bench points.
In the first half, the Rams jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, with back-to-back three-pointers by
Micah Jones. Shepherd answered back with an 11-4 run, taking a 13-12 with 13:39 left. A
Micah Jones three-pointer gave the Rams a 19-17 lead with 11:34 left. Shepherd went on a 17-2 run, taking a 38-23 lead with 1:13 remaining. Shepherd went into the half leading 40-25.
In the second half, the Rams went on an 8-0 run, making the score 41-37 highlighted by a
Lance Gill lay-up with 12:13 left. With the score 53-44, Shepherd, the Rams went on a 5-0 run, making the score 53-49 on a Wesley Tubbs three-pointer.
Micah Jones hit a huge three making the score 56-53 with 6:37 left. Shepherd extended their lead to 10 points 63-53. The Rams went on a 10-2 run making the score 65-63 Shepherd, on a Welsey Tubbs free-throw with 1:55 remaining. Shepherd went on to win the contest 69-66.
