PETERSBURG, V.A– The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team was overwhelmed by Gannon University 101-74 Saturday night.
The Rams improved to (0-2, 0-0 CIAA).
Micah Jones led the Rams with 18 points,
Lorenzo Caldwell scored 14 points and nine rebounds, followed by Welsey Tubbs chipped in with eight points.

The Rams went 21- of-57 from the field, 24-of-34 from the free-throw line, 8-of–18 from three. They scored 20 points in the paint, 18 second chance points. The Rams grabbed 35 rebounds, 12 points off turnovers and 36 bench points.
In the first half, the Golden Knights began the game on a 16-0 run with 17:43 left.
Micah Jones got the Rams on a three-pointer 16-3 with 17:22 left. The Rams kept the fight going on 8-0 run, making the score 22-20 on a
Jeremy Dixon three-pointer with 12:15 left.
Lance Gill made the score 30-28 on two made free-throws with 9:56 remaining. The Golden Knights answered back with a 6-0 run, making the score 36-28 with 7:55 left. Gannon would extend their lead to 45-31 with 4:33 remaining. The Golden Knights would take a 47-39 lead into halftime.
In the second half,
Jaiden Thompson cut the lead to 47-40 on a lay-up with 19:32 left. Gannon went on a 6-0 run, taking a 56-40 lead with 17:51. The Rams cut the lead down to 13 points, 61-48 on a
Abou Camara dunk with 14:38 left. Gannon went on a 15-4 run, taking a 76-52 lead with 10:56 left.

The men will gear up for their home opener on Saturday, November 16th. The Rams will take on Francis Marion University. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. inside C.E Gaines Center.
