Women’s Basketball Play High Point in Final Exhibition on Friday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team will travel to High Point, North Carolina on Friday, December 6th to take on High Point University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. inside Qubein Center.

Series Information vs. High Point University 

This will be the first all-time meeting between the Rams and Panthers. 

Rams Returners:
The Rams brought back six returners from last year's team. Sophomores La'Niya Simes, juniors Alexandria Warren, Jakaiya Mack, Chloe Williams, senior Christiana McLean, and graduate student Sierra Hunter.

Rams Newcomers:
During the off-season, the Rams welcomed in freshman Alana Biosse, sophomores  Khauri Little, Karina Scott, and Zion Duncan, junior Kierran Walker, and graduate students Jaleesa Lanier and Maya- Madison Walker.

CIAA Preseason/Polls
Jakaiya Mack was named to the 2024-2025 All-CIAA Women's Basketball Preseason Team Frontcourt. Mack finished last season playing in 15 games and started in 12. She averaged 23 minutes with 8 points per game, 45% FG, and 57% FT. The women were selected to finish tenth. 

Last Time Out

The Rams defeated Carolina University 57-53 on Saturday, November 30th. La'Niya Simes led the Rams with nine points, followed by Sierra Hunter chipping in with six points and seven rebounds.  

Scouting Report 
The Rams' leading scorer is Christiana McLean averaging 12.0 points a game, followed by La'Niya Simes with 8.4 points. The Rams are averaging 61.0 points a game. 

High Point University (3-6, 0-0 Big South) 

The Panthers fell to Santa Clara University 74-65 on Sunday, December 1st. The Panthers are led in scoring by Aaliyah Collins with 11.4 points followed by Lauren Scott with 8.0 points. High Point is averaging 58.0 points per game. 


Up Next
The women will begin conference play on Thursday, December 12th. The Lady Rams will host Virginia Union, tip-off is scheduled for noon inside the C.E. Gaines Center. As a reminder, all December home games will be free entry with a canned good.
