CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team fell short in overtime 65-69 to Johnson C. Smith University Tuesday night.
The Rams moved to (8-17, 2–13 CIAA).
Kennedi Simmons led the Rams with 15 points, followed by
Jakaiya Mack with 11 points.
Sierra Hunter chipped in with 10 points.

The Rams went 24-of-56 from the field, 15-of-26 from the free-throw line, and 2-of-8 from three. WSSU grabbed 26 rebounds, scored 40 points in the paint, and 18 points off turnovers. They also had 13 fast break points and 29 bench points.
In the first quarter, the Golden Bulls jumped out to an early 5-0 lead,
Sierra Hunter answered back with a jumper making the score 5-2 with 8:41 left.
Tolisha Walker cut the Golden Bulls lead back to three points on a jumper 7-4 with 6:54 remaining. The Golden Bulls extended the lead to 10 points 18-8 with 2:09 left.
Tolisha Walker cut the lead down to single digits 18-10 on a lay-up with 53 seconds remaining.
The Golden Bulls took a 19-12 lead into the second quarter. The Golden Bulls were up 21-12, and
Sierra Hunter made the score 21-14 on a lay-up with 7:44 remaining.
Starasia Bell-Freeman made the score 34-25 connecting on a free throw. JCSU took a 35-26 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, with the Golden Bulls up 40-31 with 4:45 left, the Rams went on a 9-0 run as
Kennedi Simmons tied the game on a big three-pointer. The score was tied 40-40 with 1:26 left. The score would be tied 42-42 at the end of the fourth quarter. Both teams scored 12 points each to send the game into overtime. JCSU outscored the Rams 15-11 in overtime to take the game.
